Her guidance showed me how to better draw from my background and experiences in order to showcase my best qualities to admissions teams. She was also crucial in helping me navigate the nuances of each school and truly understand their core values in order to crush the interviews. Barbara’s insight was all I could have hoped for and more.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our interview prep is about ensuring you walk into your MBA interview feeling confident and prepared. We tailor the coaching to your needs, but it usually includes a prep session to go over common interview questions and strategies, plus at least one mock interview. During a mock interview, Barbara will ask you real MBA interview questions (including behavioral questions like “Tell me about a time when…”). Afterwards, you’ll get constructive feedback on everything from your content to your body language. We can also cover school-specific formats (for example, if you have a team-based discussion or a presentation as part of the interview, we’ll prep for that too).

  • We conduct mock interviews remotely, typically over Zoom or a video call, which simulates the real interview environment most schools use nowadays. If your interview will be in person or via phone, we can adjust to that format. The key is flexibility – we schedule sessions at a convenient time for you, and we can mimic the style of interview you’re expecting (whether it’s a formal admissions officer interview, a casual alumni chat, or a group discussion). Practicing in a realistic setting will make you more comfortable when the real day comes.

  • Yes, and you’re not alone – interview anxiety is very common. Barbara is an admissions expert and trained in techniques like relational presence (a method to improve communication confidence). Through our prep, you’ll learn how to structure your answers so you’re not caught off guard, and we’ll practice breathing and mindset tips to manage nerves. Since there can be unexpected questions in the interview, she will teach you strategic techniques to answer any question with confidence. The mock interviews help desensitize you to the pressure, making the real interview feel more familiar. Clients often tell us that by the time they interview for real, they feel “much calmer and ready” thanks to the practice and feedback.

  • Absolutely. While many interview questions are common across schools, we tailor our coaching to any specific program quirks. For example, if you’re interviewing with Wharton, we’ll prepare you for the team-based discussion exercise and help you understand the purpose behind the exercise. Whether your interview is blind, meaning the interviewer has access to some or none of your application, or the interviewer knows your entire file, like HBS, we’ll make sure you’re ready for each approach. Also, it’s important to note that the priorities of the interviewer (admissions officers or alumni) can influence your evaluation. As such, we’ll tailor the preparation according to the particular audience. We also research and stay current on top MBA programs latest interview trends. We aim for you to know what to expect from that school’s interview and how to deliver answers that are authentic but also align with that program’s values.

  • It’s a good idea to start thinking about interview prep early, especially for competitive schools. You don’t necessarily have to do full mock interviews before you have an invite, but preparing some baseline answers (for questions like “Walk me through your résumé” or “Why MBA, why now?”) ahead of time can save you stress later. Once you get an invite, you might have limited time – that’s when our intensive prep can help. We’ve worked with clients on short notice before. In short, early preparation is never a bad thing, and we’re here to help whenever you’re ready, pre- or post-invite.
